Dear citizens and guests of Zagreb!

April brings a special treat to film buffs as well: the Days of Croatian Film. For over two decades this event has been one of the rare platforms devoted to showcasing Croatia’s annual production of short- and medium-length films from the current production.

We have taken our first steps into April, the first true month of spring. The sun’s warm rays have awoken the city, have brought momentum to its pulsating rhythm, and have made everybody's outdoor pursuits more enjoyable. The events of the Zagreb Time Machine, which is aimed at reviving Zagreb's past and the customs of the yesteryear, take place every weekend from spring to autumn and bring a string of song and dance experiences to our streets and squares. As you stroll through the quaint alleys of the Upper Town, you will come across some quintessential characters – singers of old love songs, bohemians, traditionally clad women from the Šestine suburbs, while the sounds of waltzes and tangos will reverberate from the pavilion in Zrinjevac Park, just like in old movies and sentimental photos.

Music lovers have another treat to look forward to – the 28th Music Biennale Zagreb, an international festival of contemporary music. Every odd-numbered year, this festival transforms Zagreb into a centre of culture and art and gathers composers, music critic and the best performers and lovers of contemporary music. In addition to that, towards the end of April you are welcome to visit the Third International Zagreb Harp Festival and enjoy the performances of globally renowned musicians in as many as six different locations around the city.

Those interested in and concerned with environmental protection should head for the grounds of the Zagreb Fair and visit the energy efficiency fairs: Interklima, Energy Fair and the Green Building Fair, which focus on energy saving technologies, raising awareness on the use of energy and heat, energy efficiency and energy saving measures.

In conclusion, we wish you to embrace the rhythm of the city and enjoy the month of April which abounds in good music and cinema, and which provides you with a pleasurable opportunity to experience a fragment of the city’s history and tradition as you stroll through its streets and squares.
