In the beginning of March, Gabrijela Krmpotić, the producer at Zagreb's Concert Direction, was presented with the 2007 award of the European Piano Teachers' Association (EPTA) in London. This high acknowledgement was awarded to Gabrijela Krmpotić for her successful cooperation with EPTA over the past eight years and the organization of EPTA competitions in Osijek and Zagreb.
The Zagreb Concert Direction organized two EPTA competitions that were held this year. At the end of January, the 5th EPTA International Competition for Young Pianists took place in Osijek, while in mid-February, the 3rd EPTA International Pianist Competition, Svetislav Stančić, was held in Zagreb. These competitions have been organized cyclically since 1999 - the competition for young pianists is held every two years, while the international pianist competition, Svetislav Stančić, is held every four years.
Although Gabrijela Krmpotić has a musical education, she is the first producer to have been awarded the EPTA recognition. EPTA has thus far only awarded pianists and piano teachers.
